Holiday Gift Guide for the Curls 2015

Did somebody say December?  I don't know where this year went but the season of giving is officially upon us.  If you're anything like me, I like to think a little outside of the box when it comes to gift giving ... gift cards are sooooo 2014.  So, to get you out of the gift card rut, I've come up with a holiday gift guide for the "curls" in your life!

For the Protective Style Queen

PHOTO c/o The Wrap Life

Nothing expresses your "Queendom" more than a handmade head wrap from The Wrap Life.  Since coming on the scene in early 2014, these colorful and graphic prints have been popping up on my Instagram newsfeed left and right.  I've even purchased a few myself!  Wraps make a great statement piece, but can also be used for camouflaging a bad hair day or hiding your deep conditioning session.  I'm still working on my wrapping skills but YouTube has a ton of "how-to" videos and The Wrap Life even has their own YouTube channel!  These usually retail for about $22-$25 and the prints are constantly changing so check back often!

For the Girl on the Go

Photo c/o The Wrap Up® Bun
As I was perusing the beauty section in Kohl's the other day, these boomerang-looking doodads called The Wrap Up caught my eye.  The packaging promised a super easy bun in seconds and since I'm a sucker for hair contraptions (no surprise here!), the product junkie in me had to purchase.  Later that day I turned my messy, tangled puff into a sleek high ballerina bun.  No bobby pins required!  You just pull the end of your ponytail through the middle slit and roll the hair up toward the base of the ponytail.  Once you get to the top, bend the wire around your ponytail and just fan the hair out!  You can find a video tutorial here.  I got mine from Kohl's for around $10 but you can always snag a deal if you have a coupon!

Photo c/o Snappee™ Snap Off Hair Tie
These non-elastic snap off hair ties from Snappee™ are great for the girl who's about that puff life, bun life, or get-your-hair-out-of-your-face life.  And believe me when I tell you ... these won't snag or rip out your hair AT ALL!  The hair ties retail for $12.95 (for a pack of 5) and come in an assortment of colors!  And for $$ off, use my codes CHRONISHIP for free shipping or CHRONIBOGO for buy one, get one 50% off (if you do, I'll get a commission).  Watch my 15 sec Instagram video here

For the New Natural

1. ONYXBOX 2. CURLKIT 3. CURLBOX
Being a new natural can get expensive ... $10 leave-in here, $13 curl defining cream there ... will quickly empty out your pockets, especially if you are still trying to figure out which hair products work best.  Subscription boxes are a great way to sample different hair products without spending all of your hard earned money.  For about $25 a month, these boxes will ship 5-7 full size products straight to your door providing you a variety of products to try without breaking the bank.

For the DIY mixtress

The kitchen beautician is back and better than ever with this custom made DIY subscription box from CurlMix.  Each month 5-7 natural and/or organic ingredients are sent right to your door including a vlogger-curated recipe to make your own leave-in, moisturizer, or etc.   The kit even provides storage containers to keep your creation fresh!  This kit is $30/month and you have to sign up in advance to get on the list when it opens.  You can find CurlMix here!

For the Multi-Tasker

Photo c/o Hot Head Thermal Hair Care
Who wants to be tied down to a hooded dryer while deep conditioning your hair?  Not this girl ... Pookie has Thangs. To. Do!  This microwaveable deep conditioning cap from Hot Head allows for a more thorough dc session and the convenience of being able to move about while you do it.  And my curl friends agree with me, THE BEST NAPS are obtained while wearing this heat cap.  The Hot Head from Thermal Hair Care retails for $35 is available here

For the Pre-Queen

Photo c/o Naturally Perfect Dolls
Meet Angelica!  She's the first 18inch natural hair doll that comes with hair that you can actually style!  That's right ... you can twist it, rod it, or do a wash and go to Angelica's hair with just a little water and love!  This is also a great way to teach your young girls how to care for their hair.  This doll retails for $85 and is available here!
